Washington State Capitol

A visit to Washington State's Capitol mainly includes the Legislative Building (can walk up for a 50-minute tour, arrange for a school group, or do self-guided tour). Other tours include outdoor botanical and memorial gardens and adjacent buildings, such as the Temple of Justice (State Supreme Court) or Governor's Mansion. Tours are free and the site is open virtually every day of the year except major holidays. The tour guides are very knowledgeable and provide a lot of great history for students. In WA state, a visit to the Capitol is required as part of Washington State History/Pacific Northwest History. Parking is close to the main buildings.
