Twenty-six restored original and replica buildings, on 25 acres in Kelley Park, recreate life in 1880s San Jose. The usual cast of 19th-century characters is here -- the doctor, the printer, the postmaster -- with an occasional local surprise, such as the 1888 Chinese temple and the original Stevens fruit barn. If you want to peek inside, come on the weekend or during summer months, when docents offer interior tours daily.
