Pros: As I sat and read this book I was transported into a different era. It seemed like a simpler era when neighbors cared for one another and one knew everyone in town. It was a time when the country pulled together because of war and our common cause of freedom. This book has a strong family message. It is a piece of Americana to be savored and enjoyed by another generation. All in all, it is a piece of history to cherish and enjoy.
Cons: It does have some romantic overtones so if you don’t desire that for your student, don’t recommend this book.
