Score: 4/5 D. McNett, Palmdale, CA (1/1/2012) Pros: This book takes the reader back to the time of Stephen and Saul. It follows several kids as they try to be faithful to what Jesus taught. The children lived during turbulent times. It was encouraging to see how they came to love and respect each other when they got to know each other. This book gives young readers a deeper look into the times of Saul, and the Christians of long ago. Cons: Because of the nature of the story of Stephen’s death I would recommend this book to 10-12 year olds. Although the arguments between the Hellenistic Jews and the Hebrews are probably realistic I found it to be distracting. |
